i think this entire week just flew by. class were cut short, due to various reasons.
i realised a lot of things this week. and i tried by best to control how i felt abt these issues. but, when night falls, i couldn't help thinking and asking myself. i see news on how ppl are affected by disasters, yet, i feel so helpless. if i can afford my time, money and youth, i would not mind working for the red cross humanitarian. i always visualize that i will one day, travel around the world and help those who really need my help. especially children, just the sight of them suffering, just made your heart saddened.
i guess i am more emotional than before after my trip back from laos. i see what ppl have there and what we didn't. so what if they do not have nike, adidas, levis' or anna sui? there's one thing that they have there that singaporeans will never have. their hearts of compassion and warmth. the ppl i have met there valuable relationships among ppl, friends, family, colleagues, partners and even towards strangers.
what touches me the most from the trip are the children. although the children there do not come from rich families, they do not hanker after luxury goods like us do. some can't even ask for much. while some others have to work really hard to afford basic things like a pair of shoes.
whatever i am saying here might seem to be boring and rubbish to u, but it means a lot to me. i would have to go back to laos one day. not just to revisit the country again. but, to embrace the aura of simplicity that the ppl developed there.
as i typed this post, there are a lot of things wondering through my mind right now. so those, who wish to contribute towards the typhoon victims of myanmar and the earthquake victims of china, just donate needed items generously. u can also pass it to me, as i am going down to the red cross house on saturday.
the power of mother nature, the power of humans, alas.
